PDCPAK - The COM story continues... (can't think of a better title)
I've knocked up some preliminary documentation for PDCPAK component. I'll be releasing the first test version to the testers (funnily enough) either tonight or tomorrow. If everything seems OK, I'll release it to the masses for general consumption as soon as I've padded out the docs a bit more.
BTW, it's never too late to offer to test it.

PDCPAK - The COM story continues...
Things were a little quieter on the COM front than expect because I had to spend time with my Mum in hospital (she's on the mend now). I've got a couple of testers lined up and, if all goes well, I'll try and get a package together for release towards the end of this week.

More COM
The new COM object for manipulating .pak files is slowly but surely becoming more usefull. At least now a client can load a .pak file, navigate through the directory structure and get the data for a "file" in the .pak file. Work goes on....
BTW I'm still looking for someone to test this beast using a language other than C++.

Appocolyptic
Well now I have the St Patrick's day merryment out of my system (well almost - I still have the post-Guinness appocolyptic nightmare to contend with), I can get back to the matter in hand....

That COM object
Remember way back when I mentioned that I was going to write a COM object for manipulating .pak files? Well I did. Anyway, it looks like it could be making an appearance soon. I've got most of the basic functionality I need in and working, just a couple of things to touch up and it should be ready. Once it's done, it should be possible to use it, for example, from within a VB app. Anyone interested in testing this theory, drop me a line at the usual address, Pete@PlanetQuake.com.

Thoughts
Here are my thoughts on some of the news of the past few weeks...

QPed happenings
It looks like the last release has been a success. The next version will support different palettes in the model viewer. It's in the process of going through a of an overhaul. (BTW I finally got the '95 drivers for my Diamond Fire GL 1000 Pro to work under the beta of 98. Finally I have windowed OpenGL at a decent speed!). I'll keep you up to date with progress.
