It began as a project within the Pacifist Paradise Discord server and eventually spread to Doomworld on the whole, taking about 6 months and some change to be completed. STORY: It came from nowhere. Another day at the office was swiftly interrupted by "the red", the wash of violent light overtaking our small building in a flash. Another forest fire? No, this cut deeper, every surface of light was stained with crimson. There was no way we could see it coming, our entire reality plunged into a fire-red apocalypse; the sheer chaos of our very spectrum of light changing caused panic and riots. The damage spread fast, the fear and whispers spread faster. All of it fuelled by a force we can't even describe, something that crept into our plane of existence from a time or place we can't even conceive of. There's no choice, there's no way back, the only way out is through. We must stay strong and fight, or ALIZARIN will claim every drop of our reality and leave a red void in its wake. IMPORTANT NOTES: The mapset was designed with DSDA-Doom as the primary port suggested for play. Specifically DSDA-Doom 0.29.2 as this version predates significant changes to OpenGL graphics and MOD file playback; DSDA-Doom 0.29.4 or higher is fine too, but the invuln palette, COLORMAP changes, and some music files will be slightly off. Please use OpenGL graphics where available as most maps were designed around it and may not function correctly on software graphics (except MAP11 which is intended for software graphics, but works on both). Pistol starts are also encouraged for continuous play. Ultra-Violence is the intended difficulty and minimal balancing has been done for lower difficulties. Co-op starts are included but multiplayer has not been tested. DO NOT RUN ON GZDOOM! Apparently the WAD doesn't open at all on GZDoom (good) but please use a real port if you wish to play this mapset. PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING! Many maps use intense/flashing lights, loud music, and aggressive visuals; even the palette itself makes the "tamer" levels quite hard on the eyes for some people. Please play the WAD at your own discretion. An alternate "accessibility patch" is available on the Doomworld thread, in the form of a replacement purple palette (TYRIAN), which is somewhat less aggressive on the eyes.
