HP LaserJet 3015/3020/3030 Downloading Fonts Utility

The HP LaserJet 30xx Downloading Fonts Utility enables the downloading of the
localized fonts into the printer RAM.

The utility is a DOS base program. However, it can be activated as well in a
DOS/COMMAND window under Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating
systems.


Files
=====
The following files are included with the utility:

* INSTALL.EXE  - Installation program.
* DL30xx.EXE   - The fonts' download utility.
* DEFAULT.PJL  - A PJL file used to set the printer default fonts.
* README.TXT   - This file.

As well as the following 16 scaleable font files:

* CRR00CPO.SFS - Cyrillic Courier (regular in CP code page).
* CRB00CPO.SFS - Cyrillic Courier (bold in CP code page).
* CRI00CPO.SFS - Cyrillic Courier (italic in CP code page).
* CRJ00CPO.SFS - Cyrillic Courier (bold-italic CP code page).

* CRR00ERO.SFS - Cyrillic Courier (regular in ER code page).
* CRB00ERO.SFS - Cyrillic Courier (bold in ER code page).
* CRI00ERO.SFS - Cyrillic Courier (italic in ER code page).
* CRJ00ERO.SFS - Cyrillic Courier (bold-italic ER code page).

* LGR00CPO.SFS - Cyrillic Letter Gothic (regular in CP code page).
* LGB00CPO.SFS - Cyrillic Letter Gothic (bold in CP code page).
* LGI00CPO.SFS - Cyrillic Letter Gothic (italic in CP code page).

Hard Drive Installation
=======================
ou can run the download utility directly from the floppy/CD it was delivered.
However, you can install it on your hard drive and run it from there.

To install the DL30xx utility, you will need to run the INSTALL.EXE program
(directly under DOS or in a DOS/COMMAND windows). You will be prompt to enter
the target hard drive designator character (default hard drive designator = C).

Make sure you have the proper user permissions to write and read in the
selected hard drive!

Once set, the INSTALL program will create a new directory under the hard driver
root called "DL30xx" and will copy all necessary files to this directory.

If any of the files already exist in the target directory, the new files will
overwrite them!
*************

After completing the installation process, the operating system prompt will be
switched to the destination directory.


Downloading the Fonts
=====================
Usage -
                            DL30xx [LPTx] [/Fy] [/Sz]

You can run the utility with several external parameters to decide what fonts
you wish to download and to what printer port. However, for each of those
parameters there is a default one in case it was not specified.

The following parameters are available:
Printer port -
   LPT1    - Printer port is LPT1
   LPT2    - Printer port is LPT2
   LPT3    - Printer port is LPT3
   
   Default - LPT1


Font families - 
   /F1     - Only the Courier regular font in code page CP will be downloaded
   /FC     - All Courier fonts (regular, bold, italic and bold-italic) will be
             downloaded
   /FL     - All Letter Gothic fonts (regular, bold, italic and bold-italic)
             will be downloaded

   Default - Only the Courier regular font in code page CP will be downloaded


Code Pages - 
   /SC     - Only the fonts in CP code page will be downloaded 
   /SE     - Only the fonts in ER code page will be downloaded 

   Default - Only the fonts in CP code page will be downloaded 


Examples -
DL30xx               - The Courier regular font in code page CP will be
                       downloaded to printer port LPT1
DL30xx LPT2 /1       - The Courier regular font in code page CP will be
                       downloaded to printer port LPT2
DL30xx /FC /SE       - All Courier fonts in code page ER will be
                       downloaded to printer port LPT1
DL30xx /FL           - All Letter Gothic fonts in code page CP will be
                       downloaded to printer port LPT1


*** NOTE! ***
1. Parameters' order is irrelevant
2. If the parameter /F1 is used, the parameter /Sz is ignored
3. In case wrong parameter was used, an Help screen will be displayed
4. It is recommended to download only the set of fonts you wish to use

Defaulting Printer Font
=======================
Once the download process was completed, the download utility will use the
file DEFAULT.PJL to set the printer default font to the first downloaded font
(either Courier regular or Letter Gothic regular), as well as setting its
default pitch to 10 cpi.

The DEFAULT.PJL file can be modified to meet other settings requirements.
However, if modifying this file make sure that:
1. You have a backup copy of the original file
2. You are using an editor program which support binary characters' editing
   such as ASCII 27 Hex 1B (the PCL5 escape code)
3. Only the required file version is available in the DL30xx directory
