Netfinity Advanced System Management Device Driver Diskette


This diskette contains device drivers for both the Netfinity Advanced
System Management PCI Adapter card and the Netfinity Advanced System
Management Processor hardware which is built into the planar of some
Netfinity Servers.

1.0  What's new in this update.

     For information concerning updates to the drivers included on this
     diskette, please refer to section 1.1 or 1.2 for the proper text file.

1.1  Build levels incorporated on this diskette.

     This diskette incorporates the following product build levels :

          DDINST installer    - WRPT02A
          Ranger SP Driver    - KDVT20A
          Wiseman SP Driver   - KEVT07A

1.2  Netfinity Servers running SCO\Unixware.

     For any server running the SCO\UnixWare 7 operating system, see the
     file ASMPA.TXT.

1.3  Netfinity Servers running Windows NT, OS/2, or Novell NetWare.

     For servers with the Netfinity Advanced System Management Processor
     hardware, see the file ASMP.TXT.

     For servers with both the Netfinity Advanced System Management Processor
     hardware and the Netfinity Advanced System Management PCI Adapter card,
     see the file ASMP.TXT.

     For servers with just the Netfinity Advanced System Management PCI
     Adapter card, see the file ASMPA.TXT.


2.0  Stopping the Netfinity Manager application program.

     If the Netfinity Manager application program is already running on your
     Netfinity Server it must be stopped prior to installing any of these
     device drivers.  The following examples show how to do this.

     For NT and OS/2:
       Close any open Netfinity windows. Then at the command prompt
       type NETFBASE SHUTDOWN

     For NetWare:
       Unload the Netfinity Support Program.

     For SCO UnixWare:
       Type: netfbase.exe SHUTDOWN
       (NOTE: This is a case-sensitive statement.)

     For more details on how to shutdown the Netfinity application please
       refer to the Netfinity documentation.



3.0  System Management Device Driver installation instructions.
_________________________________________________________________

     By following the installation instructions shown below, the correct System
     Management Device Driver will be automatically installed onto your
     Netfinity Server.

     Insert this diskette into the server's floppy diskette drive, bring up a
     command prompt window, screen or session and enter one of the following
     commands.  The examples shown below assume the floppy drive is A:.


     For OS/2, type:
       A:\OS2\SETUP
       Follow the directions that appear on the screen


     For Windows NT 4.0:
       There are 2 methods you can choose from when installing the Windows NT4
       System Management Drivers.

       1) The unattended method will install the drivers and accept default
       values for any screen prompts that would otherwise appear.  The user
       will be prompted if an error occurs during installation.

       For unattended installation type:
       A:\NT\SETUP -q

       2) The normal method will prompt the user with instructions and wait
       for the user to answer before continuing with the installation.

       For normal installation type:
       A:\NT\SETUP
       Follow the directions that appear on the screen


     For Novell NetWare type:
       LOAD A:\NETWARE\SETUP
       Follow the directions that appear on the screen


     For SCO/UnixWare:
       There are two methods you can choose from when installing the
       SCO/UnixWare System Management Drivers.

       1) Using SCO/UnixWare's package utility, insert the diskette into the
       diskette drive, and go to the scoadmin software installer.  Click to
       view the diskette (for example DISK_A) and then install the package
       that gets displayed.

       2) From a command prompt, insert the diskette into the diskette drive
       and type:

       pkgadd -d diskette1
       Follow the directions that appear on the screen
