1.0 Overview
________________________

1.1 This will update the IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter II
software only. It will not affect any device drivers.

        1.2 Limitations

SSL is a commonly used security technology that uses encryption
                to provide secure TCP/IP communication.
In order to comply with regulations regarding the export of
products that contain cryptography, the IBM Remote Supervisor
Adapter II is shipped without SSL support.
In order to install SSL, the installation key file must be obtained
and loaded into the Remote Supervisor Adapter II via the web interface.
Once the file is loaded, SSL is installed and can be enabled or
                disabled as desired.

If there is an error in loading the IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter II
software, retry loading the software by repeating the instructions
                in section 3.0.

        1.3 Enhancements
                - none

1.4. Level of Recommendations and Prerequisites for the
                update:

                - Multi-lun support is needed in order to mount more then one remote drive
simultaneously. The linux kernel 2.4.20 and later have the appropriate
multi-lun support, however this support needs to be enabled at kernel
build time. Currently, only the SLES 8.0 SP3 distribution has multi-Lun
support available and enabled. RedHat AS 3.0 has a 2.4.21 kernel, but
does not have multi-lun support enabled by default.

        1.5 Dependencies:

                - none

3.0 Installing and Setup Instructions
______________________________________

To install this update, perform the following steps:

a). Open a Web browser. In the address or URL field, type
the IP address or host name of the Remote Supervisor
Adapter II to which you want to connect. The Enter
                Network Password window opens.

Note: The Remote Supervisor Adapter II defaults to DHCP.
If a DHCP host is unavailable, the Remote Supervisor
Adapter II assigns a static IP address of 192.168.70.125.

b). Type your user name and password in the Enter Network
Password window. If you are using the IBM Remote Supervisor
Adapter II for the first time, you can obtain your user name
and password from your system administrator. All login attempts
are documented in the event log. A welcome page opens in
                your browser.

Note: The Remote Supervisor Adapter II is set initially with
a user name of USERID and password of PASSW0RD (with a zero,
not an O). This user has read/write access. Change this
default password during your initial configuration for
                enhanced security.

c). Select a timeout value, in minutes, in the field provided.
If your browser is inactive for that number of minutes, the
Remote Supervisor Adapter II logs you off the Web interface.
d). Click Continue to start the session. The browser opens the
System Health page, which gives you a quick view of the system
                status.
e). In the navigation frame, click Firmware Update under Tasks,
                then click Browse.
f). Navigate to the PKT file you want to update.

Note: There are two packet files that can be updated:
                  PAETBRUS.PKT
                  PAETMNUS.PKT

Repeat steps 3e through 3k for each packet.
The packets should be flashed in the order listed above.
g). Click Open. The file (including the full path) appears in the box
                beside Browse.
h). To begin the update process, click Update. A progress indicator
opens as the file is transferred to temporary storage on the
Remote Supervisor Adapter II. A confirmation page opens when the file
                transfer is completed.
i). Verify that the PKT file shown on the Confirm Firmware Update
page is what you intend to update. If not, click the Cancel button.
j). To complete the update process, click Continue. A progress indicator
opens as the firmware on the Remote Supervisor Adapter II is flashed.
A confirmation page opens to verify that the update was successful.
k). Repeat steps 3e through 3k for each packet.
l). After receiving a confirmation that the update process is complete,
click the option "Restart ASM" and click the Restart button. Click OK
to confirm that you want to restart the Remote Supervisor Adapter II.
NOTE: Restarting the Remote Supervisor Adapter II will disconnect your
                      current session.
m). Click OK to close the current browser window.
n). To log into the Remote Supervisor Adapter II again, open your browser
and follow the regular login process.

Note: To cancel this process at any point, click Cancel.
